Maritime Professional Discount
Available now for 2025/26 entry — verification required; applied at enrolment.
To recognise professional experience in the sector, Orion University offers a Maritime Professional Discount for applicants currently working in shipping or the wider maritime industry who enrol on eligible master’s programmes.
Award value
- 20% tuition-fee discount
- Applied to tuition fees only (normally in the first year of study)
- Non-stackable with other Orion scholarships/discounts — the highest single award will be applied
Who may be eligible?
Applicants who:
- work in the shipping/maritime sector, including seafaring roles (e.g., Master Mariner, deck or engineering officers) and shore-based roles with shipping companies, ports/terminals, classification societies, marine insurance/brokerage, logistics, offshore services, naval architecture, and related organisations.
- hold an offer for an eligible Maritime & Shipping taught master’s programme

may be self-funded or externally sponsored (e.g., employer/government/foundation/charity)
- intend to enrol in 2025/26
Acceptable evidence of employment (one or more of the following):
- employer letter on headed paper confirming current role and dates
Selection criteria

Demonstrated academic excellence and rigour in relevant subjects

Quality and clarity of the 300-word statement

Strength of references or notable achievements (projects, publications, prizes)
How to receive the discount
- Accept your offer for an eligible Maritime & Shipping programme.
- Copy of employment evidence
- If eligible, the tuition-fee reduction will be applied automatically to your student account on enrolment. (Your offer letter shows the full fee; the discount appears after you enrol.)
Key dates (2025/26)
- Discount availability: open now; submit evidence before enrolment
- Enrolment & fee due dates: as stated in your offer/scholarship email
- Processing time: decisions/verification normally within 10 business days
Terms and conditions
- The discount is a tuition-fee reduction; no cash alternative is available.
- Available to self-funded and externally sponsored students. Where a sponsor (e.g., employer, government, foundation, charity) is paying tuition fees, the sponsor invoice will reflect the discounted amount.
- Combining awards: The discount cannot be combined with other scholarships or discounts offered by Orion University; the highest single award will be applied.
- The discount covers your whole Master’s programme. The same percentage is applied to all tuition instalments throughout the programme, as long as you remain enrolled and eligible.
- You must enrol in the academic year stated in your offer and meet all programme/University regulations.
- Orion University reserves the right to vary or withdraw the discount in line with policy.
